The concept behind Shop Scotland is simple: We give small creative businesses a platform to shout from, and we help people around the world discover Scottish talent in great abundance.
Shop Scotland members range from well established businesses, to newly graduated students just starting out, kitchen table and garden shed businesses, to parents working in between the school drop off and pick up.
Thanks to our unique concept and forward thinking Shop Scotland has won a number of awards. These include being an Edinburgh winner of the Local Business Accelerators competition which resulted in winning £10,000 of advertising across national newspapers.
We have also been awarded a much coveted SBS (Small Business Sunday) award from Theo Paphitis, a WOW award from Jacqueline Gold CBE and an IntuitUK Small Business award which was voted for online by the public. You can see examples of some of our other testimonials here.
I’m Susan Elliott, the founder and editor of Shop Scotland. I’m based in Edinburgh where I live with my husband and two young children.
I LOVE running Shop Scotland and feel very privileged to work with such great people and such a mix of established and emerging talent.
Prior to setting up this site I ran an online jewellery and textiles business, which as it turns out was one of the guiding factors that led me to set up Shop Scotland. I wanted to create a hub through which talented people and their designs could get noticed.
As local high streets have become ever more saturated with tartan tat shops, and the number of people taking the leap into self-employment has risen, Shop Scotland is here to guide you towards some of the country’s most talented, unique and imaginative artists and designers.
