Colour to touch: wearable art, wall art, and small textiles to treasure
Location: Isle of Tiree
Year Founded: 2012
I work with textiles, exploring the interactions of colour and texture to create luxurious scarves, textile jewellery and art textiles for your home.
Living on Tiree, a tiny, remote island in the Inner Hebrides, with a wild landscape and a vivid community, I am surrounded by colour and detail that find their way into my work. Words and phrases are often a starting point for developing ideas directly and playfully with cloth, yarn and fibre.
Textile processes are slow and captivating. I spin, weave, make felt and stitch, sometimes in combination. My materials include British wool, some of it local, as well as recycled cloth and organic cotton, with silk, Merino and Tencel. Each offers its own individual qualities. Brought together, they are transformed into beautiful, one of a kind creations that are inspiring to make and a joy to use.
