Shop Scotland’s New Look!
Hurray we’re up and running.
Of course we kept Wee Dug, but here’s a wee guide to some of the other fabulous new and improved features around Shop Scotland.
Every member has a new profile page. The general look of profiles is now a lot sleeker. Each business can have links to numerous social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, as well as online shops like Etsy and Folksy. Links are in logo form (see below, blue links on right hand side) and many also include a one click to email.
Profiles all contain a business biog along with images showing products. New to profiles, are year founded date and the location of each business. Click the business location and many of the profiles will take you to an interactive map showing their location within Scotland.
And finally at the base of each profile page is a “You Might Also Like” suggestion box (see below). This links to profile pages of other fabulous Scottish businesses within the same or similar categories.
Our homepage has had the biggest makeover. Visitors can search through multiple categories that appear whilst scrolling down. Below this links to our most recent In the Shop Window interviews (see below) will appear. And below this is a selection of Featured Members. The businesses featured refresh with each new view, so you can always be sure to be directed to somewhere new.
The A-Z includes all our members and is an easy go to page if you need to look someone up fast.
Our Smile page contains a pic of many (but not all) of our members. It’s nice to put a face to the name. Each happy face when clicked takes you directly to that members profile page.
You can now search the sites blogs, directory and other pages by category, name and keywords. The search function is at the top of each page and will bring up a list of pages featuring what you need. The category drop down menu is on the top bar and will bring up a great selection of businesses in each discipline.
Our new site has been built to be totally compatible when viewed on pc, laptop, phone or tablet. The site will automatically adjust to what you need.
The member map is having a few alterations made to it and will be online very soon. If you’re looking for work made in a particular area of the country you’ll be able to locate it through this. There will be a name search function and all the contributions on the map will link to individual profile pages.
We’d love to know what you think. Is there parts you like or maybe don’t like? Is it an improvement on the previous site? Are the new features handy? Please get in touch and send your feedback. Thank you so much!
