Traigh Alba
Scottish beach art with provenance
Location: Glasgow
Year Founded: 2019
Traigh Alba means ‘beaches of Scotland’ in Gaelic. It’s the beautiful wildness and endless variety of the Scottish coastline that inspires my collection of artworks. I create art with items I’ve carefully collected through beach combing and every piece is unique.
My pictures authentically reflect the places they come from; shells, pebbles, sea glass and sea pottery are all presented unaltered to preserve their natural beauty. Through my art, I love to capture the essence of beaches I visit and to connect people to places that have a special meaning to them. Each piece is labelled with a specific beach, island or the area it’s from to show its provenance. Sometimes I use finds from a few areas, bringing them together to create lovely blended pieces.
Each picture arrives carefully wrapped in tissue paper, ready for gift giving or keeping. Given my passion for the natural environment, I use only biodegradeable and recycled packaging materials.
