Terms: Shop Scotland (hereafter referred to as ‘SS’) is open to online retail businesses of all natures although primarily small independent businesses are given priority. To list on this site you must have an online sales facility, or an online presence through which customers can contact you to buy your products. SS is open to applications from businesses based in Scotland only. Please note you do not have to be Scottish to apply.
All listings submitted are reviewed before publication. SS reserves the right to edit, correct or reject any submissions which are deemed inappropriate or contain vulgar or offensive language. SS may also alter copy to fit the listing category. Images submitted for links must pertain to the relating website. Although content is thoroughly checked before publication please double check your listing once it has gone live to ensure your details are correct. All links are tested before publication, however if any of your links do not work or link incorrectly please contact us.
If your application to join SS is rejected, any monies already paid will be refunded in full. Once pictures are received we aim to have your profile page online within 10 working days.
Once a listing is published online it may be removed on request although any monies paid will not be refunded. The only exception to this is if new members wish to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period. If this is the case you must email to inform us within 14 days. The cooling off period begins from the day your profile page goes online. Members of SS (annual, quarterly or monthly) can cancel their subscription at any point, however monies already paid shall not be refunded and your profile page and associated benefits will be removed at the end of the allocated paid time period. Please note if you wish to have your business removed from SS you must cancel your PayPal subscription. Monies paid due to non-cancellation will not be refunded.
Membership to SS is on a subscription basis (auto-renewal). This is automatically activated via PayPal when you join the site although can be cancelled at any time. It is your responsibility to keep your payment information up to date and to cancel payments in advance should you wish to. Any monies paid will not be refunded after the initial cooling off period of 14 days.
Information submitted for online use on this site may be used in advertising or promotional material for SS. As a SS member we may use images from your websites on social media outlets and this website. We do not assume ownership of any original images from members which are used on this, or any social networking sites by SS.
Once published, SS reserves the right to remove your listing should your website add inappropriate or offensive material, monies will not be refunded. SS reviews each submission individually before a decision is made, SS may disallow businesses to join without explanation.
If your business closes down your listing will be removed. If your website becomes a dead link your listing will be removed. If your business has a change of name we will update your listing free of charge providing the products/services supplied remain the same. If you open a new business please submit a new membership application. We do not guarantee you will get additional sales through becoming an SS member. SS showcases businesses, sales are made directly through members websites. SS does not sell any members products directly.

From this site you are able to link to numerous other websites which are outwith the control of SS, we are not responsible for the nature, content or availability of other sites. SS takes no responsibility for, and will not be held liable for this website being temporarily unavailable due to any issue beyond our control.
Privacy: Telephone numbers and email addresses will only be added to profile pages if requested on the form submission or by email. Email addresses and private information will not be passed or sold to any third parties.
Cookies: This website uses performance cookies. These cookies collect information about how visitors use this site, for instance which pages visitors go to most often. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is anonymous.

Personal Info: In order for your SS profile page to be created we need to collect certain personal information via our secure form. This includes but is not limited to your name, business name, email address, location, founding year, postcode, website and various social media links. We cannot set up a new profile page without knowing your business name, location or website. Information you give us is used on your profile page as background and links. If you do not wish your exact location to be shared on your profile page you can opt for the nearest town or city. Member locations are pinned on profile pages and the member map with the postcodes provided. If you do not wish to appear on these maps please do not provide a postcode. Locations, business names and links to social media accounts can be updated as needed by emailing us. We use JotForm to collect data. Information is held privately and we are will delete your personal details when your membership ends if you wish.
PayPal: SS payments are taken via PayPal. PayPal receipts automatically include the address your account is linked to. We keep these emails in our secure email system and never share them. We have no access to credit/debit card details via PayPal.
Emails: We use members email addresses to send out occasional SS newsletters and to contact our members with site information or customer requests. We use Mailerlite and only send newsletters to those who have opted in. Email addresses are not written down and are all digitally secure. We do not sell or pass information on. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any point should you wish to. If you leave SS we will endeavour to remove your email from our mailing list as soon as possible.
Analytics: We use data analytics to monitor and develop site performance. Our analytics can track standard information such as pages viewed and user locations. As an interest post we occasionally share users town/city/country location on social media but we cannot pinpoint any individuals through information gained via analytics.
Images: We regularly share photographs of our members products as part of promoting businesses on social media. We do not claim rights over any images. If you do not wish us to share your images we kindly suggest we are maybe not the right match for you.
Deletion: Upon written request we can delete all personal information we hold about you.
